Overview
The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking to hire two (2) part-time Groundskeepers in their Environmental Services Division.
These temporary positions will be responsible for the maintenance and care of VVH grounds and landscapes. Duties will include the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment for planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping.
The Groundskeeper also performs maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and tools, and makes minor repairs as directed. Additionally, the position will be responsible for winter-related tasks such as shoveling snow, sanding and salting sidewalks and pathways, clearing and cleaning building entrances and exits.
The Groundskeeper may also perform non-landscaping related tasks, such as painting, cleaning, sweeping, making minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, delivering supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, and providing custodial services.

The hourly rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Who May Apply
This position, VVH Part-Time Groundskeeper (#48833) , is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position.
Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors
On an assigned basis, may perform of any of the following duties or act as a lead worker : Receives, unpacks, checks and records the receipt of requisitions and issues stock as well as taking physical inventory.
May work in the laundry operating all associated equipment as well as transporting laundry. May assist in helping residents move around the facility including recreation and dining areas.
May assist cooks in the preparation and serving of meals as well as maintaining kitchen and dining facilities. May perform a variety of custodial duties.
Performs related work as required.
